Mahatma Gandhi's Quote About Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Many eminent personalities over the years have taken inspiration from the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. And some have unbiasedly presented their views regarding it before the world. Mahatma Gandhi was one of them.
In this post, we will look into what were his views as a non-Muslim regarding it.
Mahatma Gandhi about Prophet Muhammad:
Here is Mahatma Gandhi's quote about Prophet Muhammad underlining how His biography inspired him. He also highlighted the fact that made Islam inroads into people's life.
I wanted to know the bestest of the life of one who holds today an undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind. I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission.
Islam didn't spread by sword.
Gandhiji also refuted the claim that Islam spread by sword and force after studying about our Prophet. He further said:
These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle. When I closed the second volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of that great life.

Other Mahatma Gandhi's quote.
In another similar speech at a function in 1934, Gandhiji reiterated:
From my reading, I received the impression that the Prophet Muhammad was a seeker of truth. He was God-fearing. In this I know I am not telling you anything new. I am only describing to you how I was impressed by his life.

Who is Mahatma Gandhi?
He is widely regarded as the Father of Nation in India. Gandhiji played the heroic role in leading the freedom struggle of India. Contrary to many freedom fighters of that time, he advocated the use of non-violence and satyagraha as the forces to lead the movement.
Nevertheless, Mahatma Gandhi also worked to eradicate casteism, a deeply rooted evil of Indian society.
But unfortunately, after India gained Independence, Gandhiji was shot dead by a Hindutva terrorist on 30th January of 1948.
